The National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA)

Through its performance assessment programs, the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) helps BTE select which physicians qualify for rewards for all four BTE current programs - Physician Office Link, Diabetes Care Link, Cardiac Care Link and Spine Care Link- based on evaluating and verifying their data.

Physician Office Link Assessment through Physician Practice Connections (PPC)

NCQA's evaluation program, Physician Practice Connections (PPC), recognizes physicians practices that use information systematically to enhance the quality of patient care.  PPC involves a set of standards associated with comprehensive systems in three critical areas: clinical information systems, patient education and support, and care management.  NCQA evaluates office practices to determine if they meet the established performance standards in each of these three systems areas.  Physicians can also complete NCQA's Patient-Centered Medical Home version of PPC (PPC-PCMH).

Diabetes Care Link Assessment through Diabetes Provider Recognition Program (DPRP)

The American Diabetes Association (ADA) and NCQA have developed the Diabetes Physician Recognition Program (DPRP) to assess physician performance in the care of patients with diabetes, and to recognize physicians who demonstrate a high level of performance.  To achieve DPRP Recognition and obtain 3-year recognition, physicians must submit data on outcome and process measures for a sample of their patients with diabetes.

Cardiac Care Link Assessment through Heart/Stroke Recognition Program (HSRP)

The American Heart Association/American Stroke Association (AHA/ASA) and NCQA, have developed the Heart/Stroke Recognition Program (HSRP) to assess physician performance in the care of patients with cardiovascular disease or who have had a stroke, and to recognize physicians who demonstrate a high level of performance. To achieve HSRP Recognition and obtain 3-year recognition, physicians must submit data on outcome and process measures for a sample of their cardiovascular/stroke patients.

Spine Care Link Assessment through Back Pain Recognition Program (BPRP)

NCQA has developed the Back Pain Recognition Program (BPRP) to assess physician performance in the care of patients with back pain, and to recognize physicians who demonstrate a high level of performance.   Physicians who demonstrate high-quality performance based on these requirements will help patients receive care that best meets their needs and avoid unnecessary treatment, tests and expenses.  To achieve BPRP Recognition and obtain 2-year recognition, physicians must submit data on outcome and process measures for a sample of their back pain patients.
