CareFirst BlueCross
BlueShield is the first health plan to fund direct financial
incentives for physicians who take specific steps to promote
the delivery of safe, high quality care through the Bridges
to Excellence Physician Office Link program. CareFirst has
embarked on a three-year, $4.5 million project through which
at least 50,000 of its members will benefit from this BTE
recognition and reward program. In addition to providing funding
for physician financial incentives, CareFirst will provide
participating physicians with technical assistance and reimbursement
for the required NCQA certification process. The partnership
with BTE is part of a larger CareFirst effort to raise the
bar on health care quality and patient safety.
